This is a quick read for you.

The question we will be asking in this short read is "is the Indian television news giving its viewers news or a joke?"

Since the arrival of the Hindu nationalist party in power which is, the BJP it is hard for people to think of anything that goes against the Prime Minister of the country. The media may be the main reason for such a big problem. The national media has successfully put in place some Teflon coating for prime minister Modi.

Teflon coating is a political science saying. It means that whatever you do to oppose a certain person, the argument doesn't reflect on their political image.

The media in the country is heavily biased either towards the party in power or to the opposition. Stuck in the middle are "rather" unbiased news outlets. Examples of nationalist media are Zee News, Republic world. This article doesn't mean to discredit the whole organisation but what it effectively aims to say is that some considerable portion of these organisations is biased, heavily biased. Here is how an https://scroll.in article puts it:

"Most of the national media, particularly television, has given up any semblance of doing journalism that holds the government accountable. Indeed, the most-watched TV channels spend their time berating the Opposition (and insisting that India now dictates the global order) rather than offering an accurate picture of the nation. "

The job of the media is to give you the latest news but, what ends up happening is it encourages the government's moves. When no criticism is consumed and only good things are, only the good things stick. The Indian media has successfully labelled everyone who opposes the government in power as, "Anti Nationals".

Thanks for reading :)
